What we keep. Which is close to nothing.

A random number. The first time you load the page your browser is handed a randomly generated ID and a signature, kept in local storage and a cookie. It exists so that one answer a day means one answer and four votes means four. It is not connected to your name, your email, or anything else, because the site never asks for any of that. Clear your browser data and it is gone, along with your answers and your votes, and you come back a stranger.

Your four words. Every answer is stored so it can be counted and voted on. Only the top four on any given day are ever shown. The rest are never displayed, but they are in the database.

Whatever Cloudflare logs. The site runs on Cloudflare, so Cloudflare's network sees your IP address the way any web host does. Cloudflare Turnstile, the box that checks you are not a script, sees your IP and some browser signals too. That is Cloudflare's processing under Cloudflare's own privacy terms, and Cloudflare is the only other party involved in any of this.

No accounts. No email address, ever. No analytics, no advertising, no trackers, no affiliate links, no pixels. Nothing is sold, rented, shared, or handed to anybody. There is no newsletter, because there is no address to send one to.

Do Not Track. Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. This site does not follow you across other sites to begin with, so there is nothing for that signal to switch off, and the site does not behave differently when it receives one.

Putting four words in the box is permission to show them here, on the day's board and in the archive. That is the entire game, so it should not be a surprise. But it is worth saying plainly: do not type anything you would mind seeing on a public page. Not your name, not your email, not your phone number, and not anybody else's.

It is four words. It is not the place for anything private.

Anything hateful, harassing, or pointed at a real individual comes down. Slurs are filtered when you submit, though no filter is perfect and some things will get through until they are noticed.

Answers can be removed and IDs can be blocked, without notice and without a reason being given. There is no appeal, because there is no account to appeal from. The game is free and comes with nothing promised: it may go down, it may lose a day, it may stop altogether.

If something about you ended up on the site, or you want to know what is held against your browser's ID, or you want it gone, write to [email protected]. Include the four words and roughly which day, because without your ID there is genuinely no other way to find you in here.

This is also the address for anything else: a prompt that should not have run, a winner that should not be up, a bug that ate your answer.

If any of this changes in a way that actually matters, the new version goes up here and the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list to announce it on, which is rather the point of the whole arrangement.
